As accurately noted in a recent article which originally appeared in SMT Magazine and was reprinted in the IPC Review, IPC-7526 was created through a concerted effort by industry experts to guide readers through the pros and cons of stencil and misprint cleaning chemistry, machines, and waste management technologies currently available to meet todays cleaning needs and environmental restrictions. It is simply inaccurate and misleading for anyone to claim that IPC-7526 was founded on one members proprietary technology or that that technology was adopted by IPC in IPC-7526. IPC-7526, Stencil and Misprinted Board Cleaning Handbook, was the work of many hands over many years. All the leading technology providers, both equipment and materials, were invited to participate and many did join the committee. IPC believes those involved in IPC-7526 did an admirable job, and should be proud of their accomplishment.IPC-7526 is clearly not based on any one technology nor is it an IPC endorsement of one technology or approach to stencil or misprint cleaning. Industry participants are encouraged to use IPC-7526, Stencil and Misprinted Board Cleaning Handbook, as they develop or improve their stencil and misprinted board cleaning operations, and should evaluate each technology on its own merits.
